After an elevator technician was unable to make necessary repairs, NJ Transit police and local law enforcement and EMS performed a rescue operation.
A woman is treated by EMS on March 17 after she and others were trapped in an elevator at the Bergenline Avenue Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Station for more than two hours. Two people were injured when an elevator at the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail’s Bergenline Avenue station got stuck 75 below ground Thursday evening, authorities said.
Members of North Hudson Fire and Rescue and NJ Transit police responded to the station at 49th Street on the Union City-West New York border at approximately 5:40 p.m. A person at the scene said that at 8:45 p.m. the injured people were lowered to a platform and a “rescue train” designated for the victims and first-responders took them to the Weehawken light rail station. There they were met by Union City and Weehawken EMS and treated.
