KYIV, Ukraine—Two Russian soldiers were found guilty Tuesday of firing rockets indiscriminately toward civilian areas in Ukraine’s secondCpl. Oleksandr Ivanov and Pvt. The attacks at the center of the case against Cpl. Ivanov and Pvt. Bobykin occurred on the first day ofThe soldiers’ regiment had been deployed to Belgorod, Russia, just across the border from Kharkiv. Pvt. Bobykin was the driver of an MLRS combat vehicle and Cpl. Ivanov was the gunner. Soon after crossing the border, however, the Russian column came under attack and the defendants’ vehicle was sent into a ditch. The defendants escaped and hid in the surrounding area for days before eventually surrendering to Ukrainian forces.
