Prosecutors filed charges in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court against a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy. Neither are in police custody and warrants have been issued for their arrests.
CLEVELAND, Ohio— Two teenagers are charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old Euclid boy.
Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer do not name juveniles charged with crimes unless they are charged as adults. An 18-year-old man, Duane Jackson, was previously charged with aggravated murder and other charges in connection with the Dec. 11 drive-by shooting ofJackson, a Benedictine High School student and football player, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. His bond was set at $1 million.A video of the shooting viewed by cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer showed Maurco rode his bicycle to a friend’s house, where he knocked on the door and asked for the friend.
The friend’s mother said the girl wasn’t home, so Maurco turned to leave. A black SUV drove by and someone inside fired five to seven gunshots, according to the video and Euclid police reports. The woman inside the home called 911, reported the shooting and said a bullet went through her front window. She told police she huddled on the ground with her children inside the home until officers arrived.Read more from cleveland.com:
