In 2021, Rep. Jeremy Gray, D-Opelika, sponsored a bill to prohibit straight-ticket voting in Alabama. The bill had 24 Democratic co-sponsors but stalled. Gray said he believed straight-ticket voting hurt U.S. Sen. Doug Jones in the 2020 loss to Republican Tommy Tuberville. Gray did not reintroduce the bill this year and said more education was needed on the issue.

Now you’re getting that sentiment and it’s coming from Democrats.
