"At the time, when we went into lockdown back in March of 2020, I think everyone kind of thought this was going to be a temporary thing. We were all eager and willing to go through the protocols that had been recommended to us, that we were hearing on the news, of what we had to do to shut down, but thinking that this would be a very short term — less than a month and we'd all be back to work. And I don't think we really understood the impact until after a couple of months.

So you get paid by stepping foot onto the stage. You don't get paid for the six months you take to learn a role. You don't get paid for the weeks of rehearsal beforehand. You get paid when your foot touches the stage.
