CLEVELAND — If you catch Tyler Rogers grabbing some shut eye in the Giants’ bullpen, look no further for a reason why than the whirlwind of a past week for the submarining reliever and, more recently, new father.
Jack Ryan Rogers was born at 8:53 a.m. Tuesday, giving his dad just enough time to pitch the seventh inning the night before, jet out of Oracle Park and arrive in the delivery room in Evansville, Illinois, with about two hours to spare.It’s a good thing, then, that Rogers didn’t stick around to see his brother record the save in the Padres’ lone win of the series.
“I caught a glimpse of him doing that,” Tyler said. “I could just see his head and he’s got the biggest smile on his face. … That’s probably the most vivid memory of the whole day.” Tyler was drafted by the Giants a year after Taylor was picked by the Twins, but it took him three years longer to reach the majors.
