Tyrese Gibson is suing Home Depot after he says he was racially profiled in one of their stores.
star alleges he and craftsmen Eric Mora and Manuel Hernandez"experienced outrageous discriminatory mistreatment and consumer racial profiling first-hand" at a Home Depot store in the West Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles.
With the checkout taking longer than expected, fans began to notice Gibson. The 44-year-old singer-actor decided to step out of the store to avoid creating a disturbance. Per the suit, Gibson informed the employee that Mora and Hernandez would complete the purchase with his credit card. The actor also asked to speak with the store's manager, who allegedly"refused to speak with Gibson in person."
Gibson's lawsuit also claims the Home Depot employees"were unfit to perform the work for which they were hired," and their incompetence"harmed" the actor, Mora and Hernandez.in a statement,"Diversity and respect for all people are core to who we are, and we do not tolerate discrimination in any form."
Gibson spoke out about the alleged incident on Instagram Friday, re-posting a video of his February visit to the store in which he can be seen explaining the situation to some employees and asking them to clarify what their policies are.
