First increase after two monthly declines
Orders for manufactured goods rose 2.8% in September, the Commerce Department said Thursday. That’s the biggest gain since January 2021.Durable-goods orders rose a revised 4.6% in September compared with the initial estimate of a 4.7% gain. That data was released on Oct. 26. Non-durable goods orders rose 1%.
Orders for nondefense capital goods, excluding aircraft, rose a revised 0.5% in September, down slightly from the initial estimate of a 0.6% increase.
