UC San Diego will hold a free public lecture Thursday on the future of democracy and the rule of law, a program that will heavily focus on turmoil in the United States and threats posed to open societies by Russia and China.
The address will be given by M. Margaret McKeown, a judge on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. She lectures widely in such areas as human rights and international law. McKeown’s talk will pay special attention to how authoritarian states are increasingly using new technologies to spread disinformation.
