Work begins Wednesday on a piece of Mountain View Corridor that UDOT officials are hoping will ease traffic in a quickly growing area.

The project is part of Utah Department of Transportation's plan to create a functioning freeway from Salt Lake County to Utah County.Officials with UDOT said the addition will help ease traffic for the growing population in Utah County. This construction, marked by orange cones along the existing roadway, is what officials called a new chapter in the Utah highway system.
“The main reason that we're doing this project, and why the Mountain View Corridor is so important, is because of the huge amount of growth that Utah has seen over the years,” said UDOT spokesperson Wyatt Woolley. The goal of the project is to make travel easier for drivers going from northwest Utah County into Salt Lake County.
“It’s been a challenge getting back and forth,” said Daevyn Castleton, a resident. "Something that should only be a 10-15 minute drive turns into 40–45, sometimes an hour, depending on the time of day you’re going out there.""I think it could help. We do need some more infrastructure that’s going out there as Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs continue to grow," Castleton said.“Having this other route helps provide a lot more means for people to travel.
