The death brings the city's homicide count for 2022 to 19.
The Oakland Police Department said it first learned about the incident when a ShotSpotter activation, a device designed to activate on loud noises such as gunfire, went off at about 10:15 p.m. near 98th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard.
When officers arrived on scene, the department's communications division alerted them that there was a car that had been struck by gunfire nearby at Mountain Boulevard near Keller Avenue, Lindsey said. "Individuals within that vehicle flagged down a Falck ambulance that was in the area," Lindsey said."The occupants of that vehicle pulled a male juvenile from the vehicle, and then drove off."
