The deal for the planes, which are to be delivered between 2024 and 2032, is the largest wide-body aircraft order made by a U.S. carrier, the companies said. United also plans to order 100 Boeing 737s. In all, the carrier said it plans to add about 700 planes to its fleet between now and 2032. The 787s will replace existing wide-body aircraft with planes that are more fuel efficient and cost efficient as it expands is global network. The airline has added 40 new international routes over the past two years and now serves 56 international destinations from Bush, one of its hubs.
