Lionel Richie reveals his favorite places to travel in the world and expanding his luxury empire
It is a bit intimidating sitting down with a legend, especially one that has been a part of your life and every romance you ever had. Not to mention the inspiration for my numerous late-night karaoke versions of “Endless Love.” But here he is, charming, gregarious and kind, and everything you had hoped he would be. And he smells really good.
I sat down with the music icon to talk about travel and his new personal fragrance line HELLO, which was inspired by his passion for music and his international travel. The fragrance for men and women was titled after his award-winning hit song, and the Grammy-winning legend knows it will resonate with his fans.
But there is one place in the world where Lionel Richie feels truly at ease where he can let all the pressures of running his empire, and that is the Maldives . “As I am getting into the water there, and start swimming with the sharks, and I ask myself, ‘What am I doing?’ How is this going to read in the newspaper? ‘Lionel was eaten by not one but a multitude of sharks.’ And the first thing they will say in Alabama is, “I told you he had too much money.
