UPS and 1-800-Flowers.com will hire more than a combined 2,000 workers as they ramp up seasonal hiring for the holidays.
, parent of Cheryl's Cookies and other brands, announced it is adding several hundred seasonal jobs in central Ohio.
The Columbus jobs are among more than 100,000 seasonal workers UPS plans to hire this year. It is filling full- and part-time jobs primarily as drivers, package handlers and driver helpers. Seasonal package car driver positions begin at $21 per hour. Seasonal tractor-trailer positions begin at $30 per hour.
UPS said nearly 80% of the jobs it is filling don't require an interview. Instead, it uses a digital method that takes 25 minutes for most people from online application to job offer. After four years, UPS drivers earn about $42 per hour.
1-800-Flowers.com says it has hundreds of openings available at its operations in Obetz and Hebron in areas such as production, gift assembly, distribution and operational support.
