The U.S. has deployed two of its Carrier Strike Groups to the Eastern Mediterranean. But what and how powerful are they?

Shortly after the horrific pogrom on Israeli soil by Hamas terrorists on October 7, 2023, the United States ordered itsCarrier Strike Group to the eastern Mediterranean. Sent as a show of support for the U.S. close ally and to deter further escalation in the region, the group is still on station there. But it is not alone.Carrier Strike Group on the 14th of this month. That is a tremendous military power in one place, but how much are we talking about? Let's find out.

There is no set template for a carrier group, and the number of escorts will vary depending on circumstances. CSGs can also be modified on the fly by adding or removing vessels to the group as needed.Typically, a carrier group is accompanied by three to four surface ships as escorts, and there is usually an unannounced attack submarine traveling near the fleet underwater, too.
