Ibotta’s customers spend about $15 billion annually online, and the company competes with shopping tools such as Honey, Shopkick, Fetch Rewards and Rakuten. For Pattikonda, Bhatta and Hariharan, the idea to build something came from watching their parents struggling to find the essentials at the beginning of the pandemic.Home in March 2020 for a spring break that lasted for months, the students first created a website that consolidated the in-store inventory of stores including Target, Walgreens and Walmart by ZIP code.
