The Utah National Guard provided an update Tuesday on the Apache helicopter incident at the South Valley Regional Airport on Feb. 12.

The Utah National Guard on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, released additional details into an Apache helicopter that crashed during training the previous day. crash at the South Valley Regional Airport in West Jordan on Monday.

Two Utah National Guard pilots were hospitalized when their AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter crashed during a training mission around 1:20 p.m. Monday, according to the update. The helicopter was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 211th Aviation Regiment."The other pilot, from the 419th Fighter Wing, Hill Air Force Base, remains in the hospital but is in stable condition and has been communicating with friends and family members," the update stated.

"A team of incident investigators from the Army’s Combat Readiness Center out of Fort Novosel, Alabama are expected to arrive in Utah afternoon to formally begin an investigation into the details surrounding the incident," according to the UNG. "These investigations may take up to 90 days to complete, and the results will not be released publicly as a matter of Army policy."

The battalion has 18 Apache helicopters that fly more than 3,000 hours per year. The Utah National Guard stated those missions include providing combat capabilities for ground forces and joint training with other military branches.
