Utilityman Aledmys Díaz is “tentatively” scheduled to rejoin the Astros in Detroit on Tuesday for the second of three games against the Tigers, Astros manager Dusty Baker said Saturday.

Díaz is currently on a minor-league rehab assignment and will play back-to-back games for Class AAA Sugar Land on Saturday and Sunday before he is evaluated for a return to the big league club. He has not played for the Astros since he injured his left groin on Aug. 16 while trying to catch a fly ball.

Díaz went 0-for-3 with a walk while starting at shortstop in his first rehab game with Sugar Land on Thursday at Round Rock. He did not play on Friday, a planned rest day.Baker said lefthander Framber Valdez and righthander Hunter Brown will start the first two games in Detroit. The starter for Wednesday’s finale was not yet announced.

Justin Verlander, on the 15-day IL with a right calf injury, will throw another bullpen session Sunday after he threw around 30 pitches in his first bullpen on Friday.
