Veterans who needed face to face help with their disability claims had the opportunity Tuesday morningFive representatives from the Veteran Benefit Administration were at the VA hospital in Mobile helping with on-site disability claims.
“We have five of our benefits counselors here today from Montgomery. They can look up your actual claim. They have laptops here. We can look up all of your records and help you have the necessary information to file that claim today,” Assistant Director Lauran Cox said. The Veterans Benefit Administration helps veterans receive benefits, such as educational and financial resources.
This might’ve been the first time that these veterans have ever had this chance. And they definitely took advantage of it. “We like to have the opportunity to travel to where our veterans are. Meet them where they are. If they benefits questions. If they would like to file a claim, get status of a claim or an appeal, that’s what we’re here to do today,” Cox said.“It makes me feel wonderful to finally have a place where we can go to address these questions that we’ve been having in the past. We had no idea how to go about it. Not very much literature out there or anything. It’s wonderful,” Thomas said.
