A store owner suspected of shooting a 9-year-old girl while firing at suspected thieves at a Victorville mall, has pleaded not guilty.
VICTORVILLE, Calif. -- A store owner has pleaded not guilty, in connection to the shooting of a 9-year-old girl at a Victorville mall on April 12.
No cameras were allowed in the courtroom when 20-year-old Marqel Cockrell entered the not guilty plea to assault with a firearm, and other charges.Investigators say Cockrell, a co-owner of"Sole Addicts," was shooting at suspected thieves but missed and struck the young girl instead, according to the Victorville Police Department.
The incident happened at about 6:30 p.m. at the Mall of Victor Valley, located at 14400 Bear Valley Road Ste 735.
