Two people were shot in the parking lot of a Jersey City pharmacy early Monday morning, capping a violent weekend in the city that included at least five people shot in four separate incidents.
Police responded to the Walgreens on Kennedy Boulevard and Communipaw Avenue at approximately 1:40 a.m. Monday and found that two people were shot, one in the arm and leg; and the other in the arm, police said in radio transmissions.
Tourniquets were immediately applied and the pair were taken to the Jersey City Medical Center. The pharmacy parking lot is the same location that Detective Melvin Santiago was shot dead in an ambush more than nine years ago.
