BEV models produced between September 8, 2020 and August 13, 2021 have been equipped with a faulty left wheelhouse harness. The recall notice states that water may enter the cable harness and reach the accelerator pedal. Were this to happen, water could cause corrosion in the internal circuits of the accelerator pedal and corrupt the signals from the pedal.
Volvo says that owners of impacted models may experience unintended acceleration, no acceleration, or the loss of drive or inability to start the electric SUV. The car manufacturer has added that impacted vehicles have a built-in safety function that is activated when receiving faulty signals that reduces acceleration and ensures the vehicle is still controllable.
