A Walker County man is under arrest after he was found to be living with the remains of someone who had been dead for days.
According to Alabama law, a person commits the crime of abuse of a corpse if he or she knowingly treats a human corpse in a way that would “outrage ordinary family sensibilities.” It is a Class C felony.
Smith, according to investigators, had been living in the home and had not reported the death. The identity of the person found dead has not been released, but authorities said the man had been dead for days.it was his father who was found dead. He said he last saw him on Tuesday, June 7. When he didn’t hear from him, Hagler went looking for his father in the three days that followed.
On Friday, after Hagler had twice been to the house looking for his father, the family received a phone call to come to the home. It was then Hagler’s son found his grandfather.
