Was Aaron Judge cheating? Yankees slugger offers explanation for looking into dugout before home run
Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees runs out a home run in the first inning of their MLB game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre on May 15, 2023, in Toronto, Canada.During an at-bat in which Aaron Judge blasted a monstrous 462-foot home run Monday night in Toronto, Blue Jays broadcasters noticed the Yankees slugger appearing to glance into his own dugout moments before pitches were delivered., peering into the dugout just before a pitch early in the at-bat.
"Once again, he's looking at something and then the next move is that powerful swing and he blasts one to center field," Martinez said."I've not seen that from him before. I've not ever seen that." Martinez, who was a catcher for 17 years in the big leagues, added that Judge couldn't be trying to get a glance at the catcher, which isn't all that uncommon when a hitter is trying to pick up the possible location of a pitch, because he wouldn't be able to see him from that angle. He also wasn't looking at the pitch clock, because it's not in that direction.
