WATCH LIVE: President Biden delivers remarks to Irish Parliament
President Biden is delivering a policy speech to the Irish Parliament on Thursday after meeting with the Irish President Michael Higgins in Dublin, kicking off a leg of his trip to the island aimed at strengthening ties between the U.S. and Ireland while allowing him to explore his Irish Mr. Biden's visit to the Republic of Ireland comes after he traveled to Northern Ireland, which is part of the U.K.
Mr. Biden not only spoke of the heritage he shares with the Irish people, but of the ties between Ireland and the United States,"a partnership for the ages," he said. Mr. Biden said that perhaps more than most,"the United States was shaped by Ireland." The U.S. president spoke of how Benjamin Franklin once visited the Irish parliament and said Ireland was"disposed to be friends" of America.
