The American Heart Association reports that Black and Hispanic adults were 26% less likely to receive bystander CPR than white adults, and that number was even lower if they were experiencing cardiac arrest.

– Diamond Garza said CPR can be as simple as singing the song “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees.

CPR is Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, or in more simple terms, a lifesaving procedure to perform when someone’s heart stops beating. Garza said this statistic comes as no surprise to her, but why this statistic still stands could come from many reasons. Brenda Delgado, an instructor at Help-A-Heart CPR, said her classes are often majority white, and she said changing this statistic comes down to education and accessibility.

Early Black Holes Were Bigger Than We ThoughtEvery large galaxy in the nearby universe contains a supermassive black hole at its core. The mass of those black holes seems to have a relationship to the mass of the host galaxies themselves. But estimating the masses of more distant supermassive black holes is challenging.
