Perhaps the Constitution should be amended for a maximum age limit for members of the House, Senate and the President.

The U.S. Constitution requires members of the House of Representatives to have attained the age of 25 years, Senators to have attained the age of 30 years and the President to have attained the age of 35 years, and citizenship is required for all.

When the U.S. Constitution was ratified, the average life span was around 40 years so this may be the reason that there is no maximum age limit required by this document. However, considering the ages of the current Speaker of the House, the Minority Leader of the Senate and the President and many other Congressmen, perhaps the Constitution should be amended for a maximum age limit for members of the House, Senate and the President.

In addition to a maximum age limit requirement, there could also be requirements for minimum IQ and educational background, especially for independent thinking skills, math background, reading comprehension, technology competency, writing skills, etc.Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
