Watch as soon-to-be mom Elissa Quinn learns she will appear on newsstands and in mailboxes around the country. ❤️
cover star, she walked into the elevator of her office in Dedham, Massachusetts, and cried. She couldn’t believe what just happened.
“It really took me by surprise,” she said a few minutes after Runner’s World Coach Jess Movold revealed the news. Quinn isn’t a professional runner or model, she doesn’t have a massive social following, and her story isn’t the main feature in the issue. Which is why she was so shocked to find out she’d be appearing on newsstands around the country.on February 21, 2019, just two days after we launched. As one of our first members, she said she joined because she wanted “more inspiration and tips” to become faster and stronger.
Quinn fell in love with running after a devastating breakup. She needed to cheer up while training to run a half marathon and marathon in two consecutive days, so she impulsively bought a banana suit to wear during each race. She has since worn the costumes on runs over the past several years. In that time, she also met her husband, who wears a banana suit at races to cheer her on.
Quinn is like the millions of runners on the roads and trails around the country, chasing her own personal goals and getting stronger with each step. We think that’s pretty cool, and we wanted to celebrate her story, which she submitted as part of herThat’s why, exactly one year after the launch of Runner’s World+, we put Quinn on the cover.
