'When you add hundreds and thousands of incidents it's not a coincidence, it's racism,' said San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu.

"I know when we saw that video, it was heartbreaking, it's still heartbreaking, I still feel pain and hurt," said San Francisco Mayor London Breed."At the very core, it's about acknowledging hate crimes happen to Asian Americans," said activist Justin Zhu.

This week, San Francisco Police reported anti-Asian hate crimes have spiked more than 500% since the pandemic began, victims continue to come forward.Hundreds of people are planning to gather in six U.S. cities Sunday to commemorate the death of 84-year-old Vicha Ratanapakdee in San Francisco and call for an end to anti-Asian hate and violence.

"When you add hundreds and thousands of incidents it's not a coincidence, it's racism," said San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu.Others say words are not enough, real action is needed to stop senseless attacks. "We must hold accountable crimes against our AAPI community, and we must demand those who have the power to hold people accountable, actually do," said San Francisco Catherine Stefani.
