Many opposing this partnership worry this will eventually lead to a costly burden on taxpayers.
The West Shore School District is hearing from the public one day after protests broke out over a closed-door meeting with the Independence Law Firm. The school district is receiving heat from taxpayers over a potential partnership with the firm that has offered pro-bono services to multiple districts around the state. During Tuesday night's West Shore School Board meeting, district residents, both for and against the partnership, stood at the podium to share their thoughts.
Most recently, at the South Western School District in York County, these amendments included language allowing parents to remove certain books from their child's curriculum or allowing teachers the right to refuse a child's preferred pronouns. 'But please, make no mistake, the ILC is not offering free legal advice because they want transparency, they want school districts to be their cultural warriors,' said John Elliot.
