What should you do when you encounter a lost dog — pick it up or leave it on the street?
aire images, Contributor / Getty ImagesWhen encountering a stray dog with no ID, will the dog eventually go home if left on its own? I ask because my neighbor picks up every loose dog they see. I contend that most dogs can find their way home and that holding on to it for days is more stressful. Your thoughts?Even if dogs have not gone far, they don’t necessarily know how to return home.
One person said, “One of my callers got bitten by a cat she was rescuing and delayed seeking medical attention. She wound up in the hospital with an infection and possible amputation. Fortunately, the antibiotics were effective in treating the infection.”
