Those who don’t like cash bail believe that it allows anyone with money to get out of jail, regardless of the seriousness of the offense and their risk of reoffending. Giving “discounts” to people charged with violent offenses is a flaw in an already faulty system, further putting community safety in the hands of private bondsmen, opponents say.
