News headlines about cyberattacks and data breaches serve as constant reminders of the risks associated with a data economy. Governments around the world are taking action to restrict the gathering of data and curb its misuse, struggling to find the right balance between safeguarding citizens’ privacy and encouraging innovation to spur economic growth.
The study found that companies that excel at integrating data into their strategy, operations and culture are largely outpacing their peers in revenue growth and profitability. Yet only nine percent of companies we surveyed compose this group. Significant work is still required on responsible use of data and associated strategies.
78% of C-suites at these companies say they and their colleagues have deep trust in data to perfect the quality and speed of the decisions they make—compared to just 34% of their peers.
