John Rhys-Davies as Sallah The Egyptian excavator Sallah is introduced as one of Indiana Jones' loyal friends in Raiders of the Lost Ark. John Rhys-Davies continued to reprise his role as Sallah in The Last Crusade and returned for a cameo in The Dial of Destiny. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art graduate, however, found more popularity and acclaim when he took on the role of the dwarf warrior Gimli in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
