The federal government will open the U.S. to international travelers again if they are fully vaccinated and can prove it. For others, exemptions are limited. Read more about the White House's plan here:
International passengers who can’t show proof that they are fully vaccinatedUnvaccinated U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents will need a negative test within 1 day of departure.Travelers will also need to provide contact information so they can be reached by public health authorities after they arrive in the U.S. in case contact tracing is needed.
There are limited exemptions to this rule. Children under 18, for example, will not be required to be vaccinated because of vaccines for this group are not available in many parts of the world. Unvaccinated travelers who must travel for emergency or humanitarian reasons may also be allowed to board a plane to the U.S., provided they can get a government-issued letter allowing entry.
