Who is Rachel DeLoache Williams? A former photo editor at Vanity Fair whom Sorokin befriended around 2016 and subsequently stuck with an enormous bill for a Moroccan vacation. In interviews with Good Morning America, the Evening Standard, and more, Williams has expressed pretty much the same sentiment. “I think promoting this whole narrative and celebrating a sociopathic, narcissistic, proven criminal is wrong,” she told Vanity Fair. “One person’s a criminal. The story profits her. This is a narrative designed to create empathy for a character who lacks it. The whole thing is very problematic.
