Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT In 2004, Carmine Caridi was banned by the Oscars, raising an understandable question around why he wasn't welcome. Best known for his role as Carmine Rosato in The Godfather Part II and The Godfather Part III, Caridi also played minor roles in films like 1978’s Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park and 1992’s Ruby. Additionally, he portrayed Dan Valenti in the TV show Phyllis from 1976 to 1977.

Carmine Caridi was invited to join the Academy in 1982. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he admitted to making copies for people, including his brother and sister, and insisted that everyone does it. He also confessed to sending his screeners to a friend named Russel Sprague. The FBI offered Caridi immunity in exchange for naming Sprague, who was then arrested and charged with criminal copyright infringement. Caridi was then sued by both Columbia Pictures and Warner Bros.
