Here's why Ceria Brewing’s marijuana-infused beers are not currently available in Colorado.

became a pioneer of marijuana-infused beverages when it debuted its first THC beer in 2018. But right now, the company’s offerings are not available in its home state and it’s unclear when they will return to Colorado dispensaries.

Jodi Villa, co-founder and CEO of Ceria Brewing Co., tells The Denver Post that the beverage company discontinued production in July because it no longer has a local partner licensed to package the THC beer. Because laws prohibit marijuana from crossing state lines, products sold in Colorado must also be manufactured here.

Ceria previously worked with Keef Brands and Denver Packaging Company to infuse and can its lineup of beers, which includes Grainwave Beligan-style white ale and Indiewave IPA . Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is the psychoactive compound in cannabis that produces a high. “Finding a licensed copacker who packages carbonated THC beverages and has a pasteurizer isn’t an easy thing to do in Colorado,” Villa said by email, adding Ceria hopes to be back in the market “soon.”
