talented female voice actors that using a guy seems, well, lazy.
There are unquestionably a lot of female actors who could have voiced Lola, and done it beautifully, but once you hear Kroll spitting out such lines as “I want to be the first chick to shit on the moon!” and speculate about placing eggs into unmentionable body parts, it’s impossible to imagine anyone else brining her to life.
Maybe the answer is simple: We’re not used to seeing truly gross female characters on TV yet, and despite the new ground that shows like have broken in terms of portraying young women accurately , Lola’s over-the-top foulness is actually...kind of refreshing.
Lola, with her broken home, obnoxious voice, and penchant for filthy put-downs, is nobody’s idea of a dream girl...but Jay loves her anyway, and it’s kind of great to see. Lola is what might have resulted if Helga Pataki fromwere allowed to develop a little more as a character , and the “gross” teenage girl I once was does a little dance every time she comes onscreen.
