More smoke is on the way Tuesday night and Wednesday, experts say.

Officials in multiple towns across the state, including Fairfield, Summit, Hillsborough, Montclair and South Brunswick, warned residents of the conditions.

Air quality that is deemed unhealthy for sensitive groups means “people with lung disease, children, older adults, and people who are active outdoors are considered sensitive and therefore at greater risk” from ground-level ozone pollution, the EPA says. The National Weather Service cautioned sensitive groups to reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion and to take more breaks and do less intense activities.
