HarleyQuinn supervising producer Ian Hamilton discusses the importance of the Harley and Ivy relationship and hints at season 4's impact on Harlivy's romance:
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Harley Quinn's supervising producer, Ian Hamilton, explains the importance of the relationship between Harley Quinn and Ivy, hinting at how their relationship will survive their different paths in season 4. In the new season, Harley is working with the Bat Family while Batman is away to try and become a hero, and Ivy is stepping into a leadership role in the Legion of Doom with Lex Luthor.
While at San Diego Comic-Con, Screen Rant spoke with Hamilton about Harley Quinn season 4 and how it will impact the fan-favorite couple. He was quick to assure viewers that they take this relationship just as seriously as fans, comparing it to the iconic Lois Lane and Superman. Hamilton also made it clear this is not a couple that will rely on will they, won't they drama.
Ian Hamilton: I think the thing that everybody loves about Harley and Ivy is how much they love each other. They're as important a couple as Superman and Lois Lane, and we really do treat them that way. It's not like a Sam and Diane will they, won't they situation. It's like they will. They will get together; they love each other. They're going to maybe not save the day, but always save themselves and save their relationship and win at the end of the day.
Why Harley & Ivy's Relationship Is So Important Harley's bond with Ivy is central to the show because it sets both of them on a better path. Harley, when she was a doctor at Arkham, helped Ivy believe that some people were worth saving, and Ivy supported Harley as she moved past her abusive relationship and followed a new path that led her to heroism. Without each other, they would be in vastly different, much worse places in their lives.
Harley and Ivy support one another, even when on wildly different journeys, and do everything they can to keep their relationship healthy. Harley is infamous for her abusive relationship with the Joker, and Ivy's disdain for humanity is well known. However, their relationship shows a new side of each of them and how a healthy relationship can help the couple evolve together and on their own.
