and conducted by the global market research and consulting firm Ipsos, the majority of respondents ages 18-34 said they support allowing federal funding to be used for abortion services — something currentlyby the Hyde Amendment. Additionally, the minority of voters, regardless of affiliation, said they support restricting abortion based on gestational limits, meaning most voters don't think abortion should be restricted by how far along a pregnancy is.
Of the 2,206 respondents to the poll, only 20% ranked reproductive rights a top priority for American political leaders to address. Twenty-eight percent ranked it a high priority, while 27% said it was somewhat of a priority. Of the respondents who did rank abortion a high priority, most were women, and most fell in the 18-24 age range. Democrats were most likely to rank reproductive rights a top priority, with 26% ranking it so, while 14% of Republicans and 17% of Independents agreed.
The issues ranked the highest voting priorities among those polled included healthcare, the economy, and education. But we live in a time when abortion is perhaps more at risk than it has been since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973. In 2019,
