Authorities say investigators attempted to intervene in a drug delivery when a 22-year-old suspect drove toward officers and was shot by a police officer.
Officials say they located Edelmann inside his Hyundai Sante Fe in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven on Maryland Avenue and attempted to stop him.
An officer close to the vehicle fired shots, striking Edelmann and a 21-year-old woman also in the vehicle, per police. Authorities say officers found illegal drugs and a loaded assault-style rifle on the driver's side floorboard of the car.
