Firefighters gained control of the Mosquito Fire over the weekend, but fire activity is expected to increase Monday.

burning across Placer and El Dorado counties pushed to the north and the east over the weekend, the fire spread was less extreme compared to earlier in the week due to favorable weather conditions. The blaze in the Tahoe National Forest didn't grow overnight, and on Monday morning, the total acreage burned remained at 46,587 acres with 10% containment, officialsDespite cooler temperatures, fire activity is predicted to increase Monday afternoon with southwesterly winds in the forecast.
