The Winnetka Village Council voted unanimously to approve the consolidation of billionaire Justin Ishbia’s four properties south of Centennial Beach allowing the family to pursue construction of a lakefront home.

In an emotionally charged meeting, Winnetka Village Council voted unanimously to approve the consolidation of billionaire Justin Ishbia’s four properties south of Centennial Beach allowing the family to pursue construction of a lakefront home.

“I know that you have assumptions about the type of people that we are,” she said. “I just want to give my children a safe and loving place to grow up.”She went on to say the issue isn’t about money, land or power, but about the couple wanting to raise their young children in a community. She has felt that her family has been used as a political pawn, and by coming forward and speaking, she hoped people would see that they just want what is best for their kids.

Winnetka Village President Chris Rintz quickly shot back, saying that everybody on the council does their best to vote based solely on what they hear in chambers. Hoeflich said that, while there has been ongoing discussion about the land swap and residents have a variety of views about the issue, the couple has done everything expected of them to consolidate their property and begin building.
