Los Gatos residents Marlene and Marshall Burak recently traveled to Jerusalem with their family, including two of their grandchildren, Jack Burak and Sidney Davis. “Since Jerusalem is 2,500 feet in elevation, the days are dry and the nights pleasantly cool,” Marshall says. “One of the highlights of our trip was a food tour of the restaurants and food.stalls around the huge central market named Mahene Yehuda. We walked an average of 3.5 miles a day visiting amazing sites such as the Israeli Museum, Biblical Museum and the Old City.”
Some of their best memories include enjoying shawarma and falafel in the Ben Yehuda pedestrian zone and “watching the endless streams of people wander by. Jerusalem is filled with excellent restaurants that run the gamut from street food and snacks to high-end fine dining. One thing not to be missed, is a day trip to the Biblical Zoo about 20 minutes from the center of Jerusalem. With or without kids, it makes for a great day of sightseeing.
