Woman arrested on suspicion of shooting, killing man in Encanto [Breaking]
A woman was arrested last week on suspicion of fatally shooting a 62-year-old man, whose decomposing body was found last month in the Encanto neighborhood of San Diego, police said.
Jenei Pendleton, 34, was arrested Thursday after Leonard Watkins’ body was discovered Oct. 22, in an encampment on 61st Street near Imperial Avenue, San Diego police said in a news release. Officers were called to the scene after someone reported seeing what looked like a death body in the area. When the officers found the body, they saw that it had already started to decompose, police said. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on the body and determined there was a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
Pendleton was booked on suspicion of murder, police said. Investigators described Pendleton and Watkins as “acquaintances.”Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call the Homicide Unit at 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 580-8477.
