Police in Houston said they responded to reports of an active shooter at televangelist Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church Sunday afternoon.

Police in Texas said Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, that they were responding to a possible shooting at the Houston megachurch run by celebrity pastor Joel Osteen. A five-year-old child and a 56-year-old were injured in a firefight between a lone gun-woman and two, off-duty law enforcement officers at Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church in Houston Sunday afternoon.
During the firefight, the five-year-old -- police were unable as of Sunday to provide any known links between the woman and the child -- was struck as well as 56-year-old man, who was shot in the leg. Both were transported to local hospitals were the man is stable and the child remains in critical condition. The woman, the shooter, was killed by the off-duty law enforcement agents.
