John A. Daniels Jr., 30, of Cresskill, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his stepmother, 48-year-old Irma Daniels.

Police were called about 6:46 p.m. on Aug. 16, to a home on Stonegate Trail, where they found Irma Daniels dead from blunt-force trauma to the head, according to investigators. “John Daniels Jr. struck the victim in the head with a baseball bat before fleeing the residence,” Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said in a statement.
John Daniels Jr. was arrested the day after the killing. In addition to murder, Daniels was charged with third and fourth-degree weapons offenses, and two counts of third-degree hindering, according to the statement.Irma Daniels was also a real estate agent and salesperson at Keller Williams Town Life, according to her social media profiles.
