Police arrested a Cleveland woman Oct. 13 after she stole $244 in groceries from Giant Eagle. Also, a Berea woman called police Oct. 11 and said her wallet was stolen while she was shopping at Marc’s Deeper Discount Store.
Published: Oct. 19, 2023, 7:41 p.m.A Cleveland woman, 36, was arrested at about 3:30 p.m. Oct. 13 after she was caught stealing $244 in groceries from Giant Eagle, 50 West Bridge.
The off-duty officer watched as the woman paid for a small bottle of milk at a self-serve register. However, she didn’t pay for the items in her purse. The woman was carrying even more stolen groceries in her hoodie. She said she was homeless and living in a car with a friend. The woman said she had planned to sell the stolen merchandise on the street and use the money to rent a hotel room.A Berea woman called police Oct. 11 and said her wallet had been stolen between 1-1:15 p.m. while she was shopping at Marc’s Deeper Discount Store, 371 West Bagley.
Police asked the woman if she might have misplaced the wallet. She said no, adding that she had the wallet when she left a Middleburg Heights restaurant immediately before driving to Marc’s.Several earphones and earbuds were stolen Oct. 13 from the locker room in George Finnie Stadium, 141 East Bagley.
